This room, Napoleon III, can best be described as a family room and is situated at the second floor. This very spacious room, with a total surface of 27 m² can be extended with the neighboring single room (children’s’ room) with a surface of 6,5 m². This room offers a view on the hilly scenery on the south side of the Château. The room has an adjoining luxurious bathroom with a shower, bath, toilet and double hand basin. The double bed is 155 x 205 cm and therefore meets up to the present demands for an overnight stay. The adjoining (children’s) room has a box-spring bed sizes 80x180 cm. The room is decorated in the Empire-style. Because this is the only room situated on the second floor, if offers great privacy.
The room is named after Charles Louis Napoleon Bonaparte (April 20th, 1808 – January 9th, 1873). He was born as Prince of Holland, as third son of Hortense of Beauhamais. In 1844 his uncle Joseph died. Just a few months later, his father died, and therefore he became the rightful successor to the throne for the Bonapartists. December 2nd, 1851, Napoleon overthrew the government with a coup d’état. One year later, France was officially named the Second Empire after a plebiscite. After this, Napoleon became emperor named Napoleon III. After the French-Prussian war he was expelled to England on March 19th, 1871, were he died in 1873.
